how now

decided to watch tree of life today since i have to write a film review for it due wednesday for my film class. of course this was after watching part of 40-year-old virgin. absolute change of pace.

honestly, i don't know exactly what to say about it here, let alone write a three page (double-spaced, thank god) paper about it. rather, i don't know how to say it just yet. but i can tell you a couple of things.
  1. wikipedia makes tree of life sound easy to understand.
  2. hitting command+t (if you're on mac; ctrl+t for the rest of you) on itunes will give you the same feel of about 30% of the scenes in the movie.
  3. don't bring kids with you to watch this movie. it's about two and a half hours.
not kidding when i say that the three kids in the cinema with us were cheering at the scene which they thought were the credits. (except they were about ten minutes too early though) the lady next to me was snoring a little. and then even some of adults joked about wanting a refund. hahaha.

thank god for lengthy after-film discussions with the boyfriend or i would really have zilch to say in my paper.  i'm guessing he was probably just about the only person in the movie theater to have sensibly interpreted maybe about 60% of the movie (and patiently shared his thoughts with me in good detail) and is quite film-literate in general. :-)

thinking i should start now while it's fresh, instead of driving myself crazy the night before. wish me luck!!!
